Veteran Journey Map
21.11.2023

Over the past years, the NGO "Community Self-Help" has been advocating for the implementation of the "Military and Veteran Journey Map." This is an essential tool in creating a unified medical and psychosocial space for individuals who have defended their homeland. Dignity begins where the state commits to compensating defenders for health losses.

Each person enters service with certain values, experiences, and levels of health. Their patriotism allows the country to defend itself from occupation. When a person serves, they change, develop, and lose some of their health, starting to see the world and themselves differently. Trials change how a person feels and perceives themselves; they gain experience. These changes cannot be ignored by the state.

The state must document these changes in the form of an assessment of the individual's condition and new needs that have arisen during their service. The place to record these needs is called e-Veteran. Regardless of how or why a person ended their service in the military, data about this change must be preserved for them or their descendants.
